EAN Releases 2017 Annual Report

According to the Energy Action Network (EAN)’s 2017 Annual Report, released today, Vermont is falling short of its commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and generate renewable energy, and at our current trajectory, will not achieve 90% renewable by 2050.

The EAN Annual Report draws on state and federal data to show the status of Vermont’s progress toward its energy and climate commitments.

Vermont’s transportation and thermal sectors remain heavily dependent on fossil fuel (95% and 80%, respectively), so our biggest opportunities for change lie in these areas.

On the bright side, electric vehicle ownership in Vermont doubled in 2017, and there’s been impressive growth in the clean energy jobs sector.
