VNRC and CLF support petition to reclassify pristine streams in Ripton to increase protection under Vermont law

VNRC and the Conservation Law Foundation (CLF) submitted comments last week to the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) supporting the reclassification petitions by the Ripton Conservation Commission (RCC) for Alder, Blue Bank, and Goshen Brooks.

Our organizations believe that these three streams are exceptional candidates for the A(1) classification in the Vermont Water Quality Standards, and that this rulemaking opportunity is a perfect trial run for Vermont’s new reclassification process.
