Two Things: Act 250 Action and Art Walk with a Pollinator Workshop

Two Things: Asking you to take action today to support Act 250 reform, and inviting you to join us for Montpelier Art Walk with a special clay workshop for pollinators!

Stay informed, stay connected – two things.

Take Action Today: Let Your Representatives Know You Support H.687, to Reform Act 250!

We’re anticipating a vote today on H.687, legislation to modernize Act 250, Vermont’s land use and development law that has helped shape our state for more than 50 years. This bill includes important policies to encourage housing development in smart growth locations, protect intact large forest tracts and critical resource areas, and restructure the board that governs Act 250 to make the administration of the law more consistent, efficient, and accessible to citizens. As climate change continues to fuel increased flooding and in-migration – both of which exacerbate our housing crisis – Vermont is also losing more than 12,000 acres of forestland every year.

Working to simultaneously protect our critically important natural areas while reforming our development laws to support much-needed housing just makes sense. Learn more about the Act 250 reforms we’ve been advocating for here.

Join us on Friday, April 5th for Montpelier Art Walk!

On Friday, April 5th, we hope you can join us for a reception for local artist Susan Bull Riley in conjunction with Montpelier Art Walk. Susan’s exhibit, “Plant Portraiture in Watercolor”, is a collection of paintings that faithfully depict some of Vermont’s most spectacular flora. A native Vermonter and current resident of East Montpelier, Susan will be on-site to discuss the methods and inspiration behind her work.  Doors open to the public from 4:30 to 7:30 pm.
