Three things: Smart growth housing and the environment on Vermont Edition; VNRC’s 2023 Member & Activist Survey is open through the end of March; and we’re hiring!
Stay informed, connected, and engaged—three things.
Rising to a triple-crisis: Housing, climate, and biodiversity
The Vermont Senate is working on much-needed legislation to increase housing. In case you missed it, Vermont Edition hosted a discussion this past Tuesday where I had the opportunity to share VNRC’s concerns and areas of agreement on this important legislation—so we can rise to meet the challenges of the housing crisis while ensuring we’re not building in areas that at are at increased risks from flooding and other environmental impacts, and to make sure communities have the tools they need to support smart growth housing and prevent sprawling development.
The episode also features a discussion with Senator Kesha Ram Hinsdale, a lead sponsor of the bill, and Leah Rothstein, a national housing policy expert, about the history of policy-driven racial discrimination in housing and how we can address that legacy of inequality in the policy choices we make today—well worth the listen!
