On the evening of Friday, December 6th, VNRC will be hosting an opening reception for “World Wide Wend”, an exhibit of photography from Paul Richardson, as part of Montpelier Art Walk. A Montpelier resident, Paul is a photographer, videographer and author who runs StoryWorkz, a firm that tells the stories of small businesses, their proprietors and their employees through imagery. Through one of his current initiatives, the Vermont Maker Project, Paul is profiling and promoting locally-made products and producers.
Most of his work on display at VNRC, however, views Vermont’s natural and built environments through a panoramic lens. As Paul writes, “I also love rambling around Vermont, in all kinds of weather, trying to create wall-worthy images. For this exhibit, I decided to respond to the high-velocity, vertical images that have ensnared us and our devices by presenting images of our world as a wider, slower place.”
Paul will join us during Art Walk to talk about his photography – both the inspiration behind his work and the techniques he uses to capture the beauty around us. You can find more of Paul’s work on Instagram (@vermontsphotographer) and at his website, www.noteworthyvermont.com. In addition to the photos in the exhibit, Paul will be showing a slideshow of images from his long career behind the camera, and also plans to bring prints and notecards for purchase (as always, all proceeds go to the artist).
Doors will be open to the public from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. Light refreshments will be served while supplies last. Additional visiting hours for Paul’s exhibit can be found here, or by appointment.
