State House

We have a constant presence in the Vermont Legislature to advocate for a Vermont that is healthy and sustainable. We provide credible research and information, and important historic context, on legislation that affects our environment and communities. We serve as a watchdog of the administration to ensure laws are implemented as intended through rule-making, agency oversight, and more.

Partnerships

VNRC has enjoyed a long history as a convener in Vermont’s environmental community, providing a way for advocates, natural resource professionals, peer organizations, and many others to connect and find creative solutions to environmental challenges. Our work makes it possible for various organizations to raise awareness and coordinate with a unified voice, locally and at the State House.

How We Work

Research

VNRC’s experts are at the forefront of research on topics in land use, forest and wildlife conservation, water quality, and more. Find our recent and archived publications here.

Tools for Communities

We support energy committees in their efforts to build a clean energy future. We train regional planners and real estate professionals about regulations and non-regulatory tools that keep forests and wildlife habitat intact. We conduct outreach to private dam owners to assist them in removing dams to promote healthy waterways. We grant funds to communities working on smart growth projects. And more.
