In this week’s Climate Dispatch, we’re joined by Dan Reilly, the public affairs director for Efficiency Vermont, the State’s official Energy Efficiency Utility. Dan shared an update on a range of weatherization initiatives under active discussion at the State House. The State Budget, which passed the House this week, included $40 million in weatherization and other climate-related investments.
The Transportation bill (H.433) also passed the House this week. It includes funding for new electric vehicle incentives, multi-unit dwelling charging stations, incentives to help lower-income people access affordable high-efficiency new and used vehicles, a commitment to fare-free public transit through July of 2023, and more.
Call to action: Thank your Representative/s for supporting the climate-related provisions in the budget and transportation bill. These improvements will help more Vermonters weatherize their homes and access cleaner, more affordable, and more accessible transportation options.
