Climate Dispatch 2/14/2025: The Youth Are Our Future

This week in the State House, we had over a dozen youth climate advocates from across the state as part of the first Youth Lobby lobby Day of the year. Students from Harwood, Vergennes, and Mount Mansfield Union high schools joined together to meet with legislators in the House Transportation Committee and Climate Solutions Caucus, presenting about the need for climate action to ensure the health, welfare and economic viability of future generations.

Today’s episode

On today’s episode, we talk with Vermont Climate Council Youth Representative Quincy Sabick and Vermont State Youth Council member Astrid Longstreth about why they showed up on a snow day to advocate for Vermont to continue to take climate action.

Call to Action

The youth are our future and their voices are crucial in the conversation about Vermont’s climate solutions. Do you know a high school student who is passionate about climate and wants to get more involved in advocacy? Connect them with the Youth Lobby at youthlobby.org, on their Instagram page, or by emailing youthlobbyvt@gmail.com. Please help us build a stronger voice for youth in Vermont. Encourage them to pencil in March 13th on their busy calendars – the Youth Lobby is organizing another event to elevate the importance of acting on climate.

Thank you for ALL you do,
