These past 2 weeks, we have seen attack after attack from the new administration, not only on environmental protections but on people’s lives, safety, and security. In these scary times, we will hold you in our hearts but also stand with you as we push back against attacks on what we care about the most.
President Trump started on day one by withdrawing the US from the Paris Agreement (again) and rolling back EPA rules and programs. Then this week Governor Scott unveiled his budget, which he is using as a vehicle to push for his own rollbacks on climate programs and to erode the Global Warming Solutions Act. We stood with our partners and responded, but there is still much more work to do. Check out our call to action below to see what you can do today.
Today’s episode
On today’s episode of the Climate Dispatch, we talk with Senator Becca White (D-Windsor County) about how she’s approaching the dual threats of the new presidential administration and Governor Scott’s attempts to roll back Vermont’s progress.
Call to Action
President Trump’s immediate action to remove the US from the Paris Accord and to weaken the EPA means that we will be increasingly reliant on state climate action and environmental protections. And with Governor Scott doubling down by calling for rollbacks of Vermont’s Global Warming Solutions Act, we need our legislative leaders now more than ever. Please take a minute to reach out to Speaker of the House Jill Krowinski and Senate Pro Tem Phil Baruth and thank them for their leadership on climate over the past few years and ask them to continue to move Vermont forward with climate solutions that protect Vermont’s natural resources and ensures that all Vermonters have access to affordable energy.
