Two Things: Flood Resiliency Forum at the Barre Old Labor Hall & Vermont Conservation Conference

Two things: This week, we’re sharing details about our Flood Resilience Forum at the Barre Old Labor Hall on September 26th and this year’s Vermont Conservation Conference on October 7th.

Stay informed, stay connected – two things.

We’re hosting a Flood Resilience Forum at the Barre Old Labor Hall on Thursday, September 26th from 5:30-7:00pm. Bring your thoughts, stories, and ideas for a roundtable discussion with experts and community members. We’ll be gathering local input and sharing perspectives on how Barre and other communities can better prepare for future floods. Panelists will include VNRC Restoration Ecologist Karina Dailey, Barre City Councilor Amanda Gustin, DEC Floodplain Manager Ned Swanberg, and Friends of the Winooski Executive Director Michele Braun. This event is free to the public, no registration required. We’ll provide light refreshments during a social hour before the panel discussion. More details about programming and speakers to come, stay tuned on our social media channels!

The Vermont Conservation Conference is coming up on Monday, October 7th! Convening at a unique moment with the state coming together to create a plan to conserve 30% of our land and waters by 2030, this conference aims to make space for the conservation community across Vermont to meet, share resources, and foster discussions regarding collaborative, strategic, and informed conservation work and planning.

General themes for the day will include:

• Reconciliation, Recognition, and Restorative Justice for the Land

• Landscape-Scale Conservation

• Biodiversity

• Climate Solutions

• Organizational Capacity, Communication & Engagement

• Working Lands

• Stewardship and Restoration

• Livable Communities
