Two Things: Green Drinks @ Zero Gravity tonight & Announcing the Art Gibb Awardee

Two things: This week, we’re getting hyped for Green Drinks at Zero Gravity and announcing this year’s winner of the Arthur Gibb Award for Sustainable Community Leadership.

Stay informed, stay connected – two things.

Green Drinks Happy Hour @ Zero Gravity

We’re hosting a Green Drinks Happy Hour at Zero Gravity TONIGHT! Swing by the South End brewpub in Burlington from 5-7pm to grab a cold pint, play some shuffleboard, and mingle with folks from across the VT conservation space including VNRC staff. Anyone working in the environmental field is welcome to come, no registration or RSVP required!

Even if you can’t make it tonight, be sure to stop by the brewpub before the end of the month. As a part of their Green State for Good program, Zero Gravity is donating $1 of every pint of Green State lager sold in their taproom to support our mission here at VNRC. We’re so grateful for their investment in sustainability and for supporting our environmental advocacy work!

Congratulations to Arthur Gibb Awardee, Jessica Laporte!

VNRC is delighted to present the 2024 Arthur Gibb Award for Sustainable Community Leadership to Jessica Laporte, in recognition of her deep dedication to Vermont’s land and people. Jess is a dynamic leader and statewide advocate for community resilience and equity, who’s ability to successfully navigate the thorny dynamics of the Vermont legislature, coalition organizing, and non-profit management made her a stand-out nominee.

Jess played a key role in organizing support for and developing legislation that led to the formation of the Land Access and Opportunity Board (LAOB), which is now working to provide housing equity and land access to Vermonters from historically marginalized or disadvantaged communities. As a Co-Director of the non-profit Community Resilience Organizations (CROs), Jess has expanded the organization’s capacity to support community projects.

Every year, in honor of Arthur Gibb’s legacy of commitment to safeguarding Vermont’s environment and communities, VNRC recognizes an individual whose leadership has similarly brought about positive and lasting change by building healthy, equitable and sustainable communities. The award will be presented to Jess later this fall at VNRC’s annual member meeting.
