Climate Dispatch—March 19, 2021: Rep. Tim Briglin

In this week’s Climate Dispatch, we’re joined by Representative Tim Briglin, chair of the House Energy & Technology Committee. Chair Briglin highlights significant climate-resilient and equitable connectivity progress on broadband; his committee’s work on vehicle electrification; and the potential for further progress on weatherization and energy-saving strategies over the last half of the session.

Call to action

This week, we encourage you to continue to make your voice heard. Put “pen to paper” and make clear why you care about climate action and all the economic, equity, public health and resilience benefits it brings. Here are some of the things you can do:

  • Write an op-ed and submit it to VTDigger. You can email commentaries (800 words or less) to Tom Kearney at tkearney@vtdigger.org. Find examples of other commentaries here. Talk about your personal experience and why you care about climate change. Use specific examples.
  • Share your thoughts as a letter to the editor. Keep it short; under 200 words. Find submission details through your local paper’s website.
  • Connect with your legislators. Tell them that climate action is important to you, and why. Legislators tell us it inspires them to act when their constituents reach out. Find your lawmakers and their contact info at at https://legislature.vermont.gov/.

Our progress in Vermont relies on the partnership of all Vermonters in ensuring a just, strategic energy transformation that matches the urgency of the challenge.
