Sam Diaz currently serves as the Executive Director for 1000 Friends of Oregon, a smart growth watchdog organization founded in 1975 with a big and diverse tent of supporters. Sam’s childhood prompted him to learn more about who makes decisions about the water we drink, the air we breathe, and the lands that sustain all of us. He has advanced smart growth policies, secured hundreds of millions of dollars, and built coalitions and programs to help communities realize healthier, stronger, more resilient communities.
