Climate Dispatch with Attorney General Charity Clark – Defending Climate, Clean Energy + Democracy

Lawmakers have had long days on the floor this week as the House grapples with the budget and both bodies tackle a variety of substantive issues. On climate, a few important updates: The data center bill is on the floor today, and the House passed H.740, the greenhouse gas reporting bill that will provide reliable data for municipalities and state leaders seeking new ways to cut energy costs and climate pollution (see how your legislator voted and thank them if they voted YES!).

Today’s Episode

There are other critical efforts afoot beyond the State House, too, and we are excited this week to be joined by Vermont Attorney General Charity Clark. In today’s Dispatch, AG Clark overviews her office’s efforts to push back against Big Oil and the Trump administration’s efforts to let fossil fuel corporations off the hook for the damages their products have caused our communities. AG Clark briefly discusses the Superfund case, including highlighting that, on Monday, her team will be in federal district court in Rutland in a major court test to defend this critical law. Superfund defense is just one of over 45 suits AG Clark has brought, including a recent petition her team has joined with other states to challenge the Trump Administration’s recent repeal of the Endangerment Finding – a finding foundational to obligating climate action. Check out this week’s video for a deeper dive on these two key issues – and more!
