In today’s Climate Dispatch, we get an update from Senator Anne Watson – Chair of the Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee – and talk about the details and vision for tomorrow’s first-ever Vermont Changemakers Summit. 

Over the past many months, it’s been a privilege for VNRC and VCV to work with a broad, diverse coalition of non-profit partners working on many important food security, economic justice, public health, democracy, and other critical issues. Tomorrow, we are excited to host the Vermont Changemakers Summit starting at 9 a.m., Saturday, April 11th, at Harwood High School in Moretown. 

We have an incredible lineup of workshops, activities, and special guest speakers lined up for tomorrow’s event, including Treasurer Mike Pieciak, Secretary of State Sarah Copeland Hanzas, and Congresswoman Becca Balint!

Today’s Episode

When it comes to climate, the action must be in the states. Thankfully, Vermont policymakers continue to focus on forward, cost-saving progress. Today, we are again joined by the Chair of the Senate Natural Resources & Energy Committee, Senator Anne Watson (D-Montpelier). Sen. Watson discusses continued action on H.740, the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reporting Program, her committee’s latest, proactive work on data centers, and what we might expect as the legislative session begins to wane.

Call to Action

We need good data for good planning, programs, and policies to cut climate pollution, reduce fossil fuel dependence, and save Vermonters money. Please call or email your Senator and ask them to support H.740 and to fund the Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reporting Program!
