Another week in March, another week of bills crossing over to the next chamber as the “money” committees take on policy bills that have tax or spend provisions.
This week, we saw the passage of the first energy-related bill in the House, H.125, an act relating to reporting on the energy transition. This bill mandates the Department of Public Service to produce an annual report on the economic impacts of the transition to clean energy in Vermont. This report, due by January 15th of each year, will be created in consultation with relevant state agencies and will cover several key metrics, including the number of gas stations and heating fuel sellers, changes in electric vehicle supply equipment, electric rates, and the number of renewable energy development companies operating in the state.
Today’s Episode
On today’s episode, we speak to Representative Laura Sibilia (I-Dover) about her work on the House Energy & Digital Infrastructure committee including her sponsorship of H.125 and efforts to stop the rollbacks of our foundational climate policy as seen in H.289.

To follow how your lawmakers are voting check out the Vermont Conservation Voters Environmental Scorecard. It’s now LIVE!
VCV has now scored one vote each for the House and for the Senate. Check out how your Representative(s) and Senator(s) voted in these early votes. If they have 100%, send them a quick note of thanks. If they are at a 0% write and ask them why they voted that way. Keep checking back to the scorecard as we continue to score votes throughout the legislative session!
Thank you for ALL you do!

PS: Join our partners next week at noon, Wednesday, March 26th for a webinar on the Climate Action Plan. As you likely know, the Vermont Climate Council and the Vermont Climate Action Plan are crucial parts of the Global Warming Solutions Act that the Scott Administration is trying to weaken, so it’s important to be up to speed on this work.
