In the face rising and increasingly volatile oil prices, Vermont has seen more interest in using wood for heating. There is also a strong interest in creating more electricity from woody biomass, which may put significant pressure on Vermont’s forests. VNRC has been active in the development of policy to promote sustainable practices for biomass harvesting, and the efficient use of our limited word supply through thermal-led and home heating applications.
VNRC served on a the Biomass Energy Development Working Group, also known as the “Bio-E” group which issued a final report on biomass on January 17, 2012.
