Governor Scott Affirms His Commitment to a Clean Energy Transition
On his first day in office, VNRC and partner organizations presented Gov. Scott with a letter urging him to not back away from the state’s commitment to clean energy. Encouragingly, days later, Gov. Scott convened his first press conference to celebrate SunCommon’s innovative, new solar canopy and affirmed his support of the state’s goal of getting 90 percent of the state’s energy from renewable sources by 2050. There, Gov. Scott highlighted the job creation opportunities renewable energy and energy efficiency offer the state. Vermont’s investments to date have helped reduce the state’s energy costs and enabled more Vermonters to reduce their reliance on imported fossil fuels. VNRC looks forward to working with the Scott administration and continuing the state’s progress on a transition to efficient, renewable energy.
