VNRC is chartering a 52-passenger bus to the People’s Climate March in Washington, D.C., on Saturday, April 29th.
This is the second People’s Climate March. The first happened on September 21st, 2014 in the streets of New York City. Over 400,000 people marched to demand that President Obama take action on climate change.
Leading up to that march three years ago, Bill McKibben wrote, “Day to day this resistance is rightly scattered, local and focused on the more mundane: installing a new zoning code, putting in a solar farm, persuading the church board to sell its BP stock. But sometimes it needs to come together and show the world how big it’s gotten.”
This is one of those times. It’s just a bigger fight than before.
VNRC’s bus will leave from our office in Montpelier (9 Bailey Ave) at 9:00 PM on Friday, April 28th, and make a stop in Hartford at 10:00 PM. We will travel through the night and arrive in D.C. the morning of Saturday, April 29th. We’ll board the bus that early evening or late afternoon after the march ends, and will return to Hartford and Montpelier the morning of Sunday, April 30th.
Bus seats are $125 round-trip for VNRC members. If you’re not a member, or need to renew your membership, you can do so here. Additionally, we have been awarded funds to offer financial assistance to those who need it.
